Object Oriented Analysis and Design Class References

References to the Object Oriented Analysis and Design class from these web pages refer to the class offered by Jim Thomann of Software AG. This class was given on campus in early 1996, and all members of DMS attended. For those who have joined DMS since that time, these materials can be borrowed from anyone who attended the class. Class materials consist of two course books (Introduction to Object Orientation, and Object-Oriented Analysis & Design) and one book of workshops, all in one white and yellow binder. In addition, we were given a green hardbacked book, Mainstream Objects: An Analysis and Design Approach for Business, written by Ed Yourdon, Katharine Whitehead, Jim Thomann, Karin Oppel, and Peter Nevermann.

The class materials tend to be very concise, and present the information with outlines and graphics. This is a good source if you are refreshing knowledge that you had forgotten. If you are new to the area of object-oriented analysis and design, you should read the Mainframe Objects book, since that contains more detailed explanations. However, the analysis and design methodology presented in these web pages, although based on the principles in this book, does not follow all of the suggestions made therein.
