The jug is decorated with floral motifs and a plastic bull’s head on the shoulder. It resembles closely a special type probably made either exclusively or principally in the ancient city of Marion, an amphora-shaped vase with a spout to which was attached a human figure, usually a draped woman. These vases were made from about the early fifth century B.C., but were particularly popular in the fourth century.
