Princeton’s Department of Art & Archaeology has long been a leading center for the study of art history and classical archaeology. Besides covering all periods of European art, the current faculty work in areas as diverse as American art, history of photography, Islamic art, Northern Renaissance art, Italian art and architecture, and Far Eastern art. The curriculum of an undergraduate major can include courses and independent work in any of these areas as well as in studio art taught by faculty from the Program in Visual Arts.
