Grants for Support of Thesis Preparation and Research

The Department of Art and Archaeology has several grants to support research travel for the Senior Thesis and the costs of thesis preparation (binding, Xeroxing). Students interested in obtaining up to $100 for thesis preparation should complete the Application for Thesis Preparation Costs form. Students applying for funds for research travel during the January break period or the summer prior to the senior year should complete the Senior Thesis Travel Grant Application, which includes a cover sheet; project description with detailed justification for travel; budget and itinerary; and one letter of recommendation. Travel grants are normally limited to $1000 and are for air and ground transport and lodging only (not meals); the number of awards given each year will depend on the availability of funds and the quality of the applications. The application deadline for January travel is November 5, 2007; the application deadline for summer travel is May 2, 2008. Travel monies normally are only payable upon the presentation of receipts, including boarding passes for air travel. Students are required to travel coach class and to make their own travel arrangements.

Applications may also be made to the Dean of the College. Those funds are extremely limited and competitive. Contact Dean Richard Williams at 408 West College.
