Directory Services  

CSG is responsible for the software that runs the online directory services. The central directory software is the Sun ONE Directory Server and is based on LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol). This LDAP directory is used for storing information about people, e-mail delivery information, and other data. The University's incoming ("IMAP") and outgoing ("SMTP") electronic mail systems use LDAP extensively for authentication, vacation messaging, quota, and message delivery information. The data within the directory are fed from various external authoritative sources such as Peoplesoft "Campus Community" and the Telephone office.
