Professor Karl D. Uitti Memorial Thesis Fund


The Medieval Studies Program is pleased to announce the Professor Karl D. Uitti Memorial Thesis Fund. This fund is dedicated to the support of undergraduate research for senior theses related to medieval topics. Undergraduate students eligible to apply are:

1. Certificate Students in Medieval Studies

2. Undergraduates majoring in: Art & Archaeology, Classics, English, French & Italian, Spanish & Portuguese Languages and Cultures, German, History, Music, and Near Eastern Studies and having a thesis topic as closely related as possible to the academic focus of the Program in Medieval Studies.

Application Deadlines:

Fall 2014 Break (Oct. 25-Nov. 2, 2014) Funding for Travel & Research
Application Opens: Friday, August 1, 2014
Application Closes: Friday, October 10, 2014

Spring 2014 Break (March 14-22, 2015) Funding for Travel & Research
Application Opens: Saturday, November 1, 2014
Application Closes: Saturday, January 31, 2015

Summer 2015 Break (July-August 2015) Funding for Travel & Research
Application Opens: Sunday, February 1, 2015
Application Closes: Tuesday, March 31, 2015

Application Procedures:

All applications for funding support of undergraduate activities including senior thesis research (including individual student travel to conferences) will go through the Student Activities Funding Engine (SAFE). Please do not apply directly to Medieval Studies for funds in support of these activities; rather, please submit an application through SAFE.

Applications should include:

1. 1-2 page description of the project and plans for use of the Uitti grant

2. A budget
