The following are delivered directly by the US Post Office:
Mail that is not readily associated with a specific building or department is picked up by Mail Services, which attempts to identify the intended department. Mail Services is responsible for the delivery of all campus mail. Overnight carriers, e.g. Federal Express, DHL, UPS, etc., are required to deliver directly to the department. Most departments have a defined location where overnight carriers will make delivery. To facilitate the delivery of campus mail the Department Name should be prominently displayed. The department name is the primary sort used by the Mail Services department. Brown envelopes are provided for the movement of campus mail. To reduce costs the campus mail envelopes are designed to be reused, and departments should be careful to mark out all previous delivery addresses. Mail Services will pick up and deliver to the US Post Office stamped mail left at each department mail stop. This service is provided to conduct University business and personal mail is not to be included. Departments may choose to deliver unstamped mail to Mail Services. For unstamped mail, Mail Services will meter mail for departments adding a $.04 charge for this service. Departmental accounts will be charged on a monthly basis for the postage associated with outgoing mail. Mail Originating at Printing/Mailing Because Printing and Mailing produces a great deal of outgoing communications, they maintain a direct relationship with departments that use their service. Printing and Mailing's services include preparation of the material, envelope stuffing, and metering. |
