How can I sign up or make changes for direct deposit?
 


All employees and students should sign up for direct deposit through ePay, a confidential payroll component of the HR Self Service System. Enter PeopleSoft at http://www.princeton.edu/selfservice or SCORE and follow the self service links to the Payroll and Compensation Section. From there you may add or change your personal banking information. Online changes are made real-time and will be reflected in the next payroll being processed.

 
2.) When will my Direct Deposit take effect?
 
If the change was made online through ePay, the system will be updated immediately. There system will issue one check to you while the system the account information is being validated.

If you submitted a paper Direct Deposit Authorization form along with a voided check, your direct deposit will take place on the second pay period after the form is received.

 
3.) Can I split my direct deposit between two different banks?
 


Currently, the Payroll Office does not have the option to split direct deposit
between two banks. However, a Princeton University Credit Union can be
set up to deposit a portion of your net pay and the balance of your net pay
can be deposited into any bank in the US.

 
4.) I closed/changed my bank account. What should I do?
 

If you have direct deposit, please contact Payroll immediately. If a deposit is
sent to an account that is no longer active, we will have to wait for the funds
to be returned to us before we can issue a replacement check. This could take
5 to 7 workdays beyond payday.

6.) How Do I log On to ePay?
 

Students may access ePay through SCORE. Log on to SCORE and enter the self service section. From here, enter the Payroll and Compensation area.

Employees may access ePay through PeopleSoft. Log on to PeopleSoft at http://www.princeton.edu/selfservice   and enter the self service section. From here, enter the Payroll and Compensation area.

 
7.) Who do I talk to if my paycheck seems incorrect?
 

If you have a question about a:
  • Benefits deduction or a voluntary retirement contribution,
    contact Human Resources at 258-3300
  • Deduction that was taken for a student loan or bill,
    contact Student Accounts at 258-6378
  • Deduction for an employee note,
    contact Loans and Receivables at 258-5039
  • Mortgage or rent deductions,
    contact Mortgages and Rent at 258-6357

If you have a question regarding the gross salary amount or any other
deduction not listed above, please call the Payroll Staff at 258-3082
or email the Payroll Office at payroll@princeton.edu.

 
8.) Where do I submit wage verification requests?
 

If you are an employee or faculty member and need a third party employment verification, such as those initiated by a mortgage company or bank, the third party must mail or fax a written consent form that you signed to Human Resources to authorize the release of the information. The preferred Human Resources fax number is 609-258-2420.

If you are a student, please fax all of your employment verification requests to the attention of the payroll department at 609-258-1938. The normal turnaround time for employment verification is two business days.

 
9.) I am a US citizen or a resident for tax purposes, why didn’t I receive a W-2 or 1042S form?
 

If you are a student, your qualified scholarship or fellowship is not reported by the
University. Please go to this website www.irs.gov and look for publication 970 (http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/p970.pdf ) for help on how much of this fellowship
you'll need to report. We suggest all students retain their final pay stub for the tax year
to have a record of the total fellowship paid during the tax year.

 
10.) Where can I go for assistance with my personal tax return?
 

The Payroll Office is not authorized to provide assistance on personal tax returns.

13.) Who do I contact if I have a question concerning garnishment deducted from my payment?
 

Please e-mail payroll@princeton.edu or call 8-3082 and leave a detailed message
with your ID number and case number.

 
14.) Where can I get a duplicate 1099 Form?

Employees and students are able to view and print out a copy of their current or prior year W-2 Form using ePay.

Those who chose not to use ePay may complete a Request for Duplicate W-2 Form or a Request for Duplicate 1042S Form. These forms can be found on the Payroll Office website, under Forms.

Paper forms received by 5pm on Tuesday will be mailed on Friday of each week.

 
16.) Where can I find answers concerning Time Collection?

17.) Where can undergraduate students pick up their pay checks/advices?
 

Undergraduate students on direct deposit should view their pay statement online using the ePay self service in SCORE. Undergraduate students not on direct deposit will have their checks delivered to their Frist Mailbox on payday.

 
18.) Where can a Princeton University payroll check be cashed if the check is past
expiration date?
 

Any stale dated check from 2008 can be cashed at the Bank of America at the corner of Witherspoon Street and Nassau Street. This financial institution has been instructed to honor state dated checks from Princeton University.

Any checks prior to 2008 can be claimed through the State of New Jersey.

How can I request a copy of pay stub? Administration staff members and students can print copies of their pay stub through ePay, a confidential payroll component of the HR Self Service system.

If you do not have access to ePay, please complete a Request for Duplicate Pay Stub Statement form. A Request for Duplicate Pay Stub Statement form can be found on the Payroll Office website:

19.) How can a stop payment be placed on a check that is either lost or damaged?
 

A request for replacement check can be submitted by submitting replacement check form.

20.) How can a request for a copy of a pay stub be placed?
 

Employees and students should use ePay to view and print copies of their pay-statements. For those wishing to use paper forms, a request for duplicate copy of pay stub can be submitted by submitting the Request for a Duplicate Pay Stub Form. The form can be found on the Payroll Office website:
