Certificates of Insurance

Departments requiring evidence of insurance for Princeton leases, contracts, agreements and/or University-sponsored events at other venues should contact the ORM. Sections of those documents with specific insurance requirements listed should be submitted to ORM at the time of the request to enable issuance of the appropriate evidence of insurance.

Damages to your Personal Auto

If an employee's or student's car is damaged by a University vehicle and the driver of the University vehicle is determined to be at fault, the University will pay for all necessary repairs. If the employee's or student's car is damaged while the employee or student is traveling on University business, the University will provide reimbursement for the amount of any collision/comprehensive deductible under personal auto insurance up to a maximum of $1,000.

Departmental-Owned Vehicle Insurance

The ORM provides annual insurance identification cards. Premiums are charged annually to departmental accounts. Departments are responsible for placing insurance cards and accident forms in the glove compartment of licensed University vehicles.

Faculty and Staff Travel Abroad

The ORM provides International SOS identification cards that enable travelers to obtain assistance for travel emergencies, e.g., lost or stolen baggage, emergency prescriptions, eyeglasses, medical or dental problems.

High-Risk Off-Campus Student Activities

The ORM provides consultations to departments for any high-risk student activity, e.g., field trips or independent study projects, to help improve safety and reduce liability risks to the University and its faculty and staff.

Long-Term Disability

The ORM provides applications to employees who may be eligible for the University's long-term disability plan and provides coordination of the management of employee long-term disability claims.

Lost, Stolen or Damaged Departmental Property

The University's property insurance provides reimbursement based on replacement value for departmental property; however, the department may be responsible for the first $1,000 of any loss. All claims are coordinated by the ORM.

Rental Vehicles

For domestic travel, use Avis, Hertz, or Enterprise whenever possible. Decline any and all insurance coverages offered by all other rental agencies. For international travel (other than the 48 contiguous states), liability and collision insurance must be purchased.  Students may not rent vehicles when travelling abroad except in emergencies.

Use of Departmental Facilities by Outside Organizations/Groups

Any organization that seeks to use departmental facilities and is not on campus for the sole purpose of enhancing the educational or administrative activities of the University must provide its own liability insurance to cover its activities on campus.

Workplace Health and Safety issues
( e.g., ergonomics, air or water quality, noise, chemical safety, etc.)

Work-Related Accidents or Injuries

The ORM coordinates the administration of all work-related employee claims as part of the University's self-insured workers' compensation program.
