Special Programs
These programs are generally two-year placements in urban or rural environments that have a high need for educators. The programs provide a way to get certification in the state in which you're working. In some cases, a master's degree can be completed during your placement as well. No teaching experience is required for these programs.

Teach for America - Started as a senior thesis project at Princeton, this organization places recent college graduates in urban and rural schools for an intense, two-year teaching placement in 25 sites around the country.

NYC Teaching Fellows - Program places candidates in the NYC public school system in critical-needs areas.

Philadelphia Teaching Fellows - Places candidates in School District of Philadelphia in critical needs areas.

Inner-City Teaching Corps - A two-year teaching placement in an urban Chicago school.

Mississippi Teacher Corps - Provides placement for two years in an underserved Mississippi school.

Math for America - Nonprofit organization that offers the Newton Fellowship Program to recruit mathematically-talented individuals to become high school math teachers. Currently placing teachers in NYC.

Citizen Schools - Provides placement for two years in schools in MA, CA and TX as well as the opportunity to earn a master's degree.

New Teachers Collaborative - Program consisting of two summers and one year teaching secondary school in Massachusetts or New Hampshire.

Massachusetts Initiative for New Teachers (MINT) - An intensive teacher preparation program in Massachusetts.

Alliance for Catholic Education - Two summers at Notre Dame getting a Masters of Education and two academic years teaching in under-resourced Catholic schools primarily in the South or Southwest.
