Calming Candlelight
Ashley Dunning '11
“I took this photo last winter in Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris. I was very interested in light in particular and the way in which the candlelight and the natural light, streaming in through the stained glass windows, patterned the dark stone walls of the cathedral with light of all intensities and color. I became engulfed in this silent and serene atmosphere that danced with light. I think there is something particularly comforting in candlelight, especially the way in which flickering light and warmth emanate from the flame. The candlelight put me in a sort of trance that made me feel safe and at peace.”
