Laboratory Safety Staff

Robin Izzo, Assistant Director for Laboratory Safety

Robin is responsible for oversight of the Laboratory Safety Program and related environmental programs. She is the primary contact for the following issues:

  • laboratory safety training
  • reproductive health concerns
  • pollution prevention
  • laboratory safety management
  • audits and inspections
  • principal investigator and lab supervisor orientation
  • laboratory design and renovation

James Boehlert, Program Manager

Jim is responsible for the chemical safety and industrial hygiene programs. He is the primary contact for the following issues:

  • chemical health and safety
  • chemical storage
  • spills
  • respiratory protection, including self-contained breathing apparatus
  • noise and hearing conservation
  • exposure monitoring

Stephen Elwood, Hazardous Waste Manager

Steve manages the hazardous waste, hazardous materials shipping and laser safety programs. Steve is the primary contact for the following issues:

  • chemical waste disposal
  • recycling
  • hazardous materials shipping
  • laser safety

Joan Hutzly, Technical Associate

Joan is responsible for the laboratory fume hood inspection program and is the primary technician for laboratory-related issues. She assists with the chemical waste disposal program. Joan is the primary contact for the following issues:

  • fume hood inspection and measurement
  • Emergency Information Posters

Kelly States, Safety Engineer
258-2648

Kelly is responsible for the physical safety programs and laboratory safety training. She is the primary contact for the following issues:

  • electrical safety
