Project Manager Safety Guide

  SECTION 10: Lockout/Tagout

Lockout/tagout procedures are designed to prevent
accidental startup of machines or equipment, and tolockout
prevent the release of stored energy during servicing or maintenance. Through the use of specific procedures that involve applying locks and/or tags as direct controls, equipment is isolated from energy sources and injuries to workers are prevented.

Outside personnel or contractors must submit their
Lockout/tagout procedures to the Project Supervisor. All
affected employees must be notified of the provisions of
the outside contractor’s Lockout/tagout procedures and
must comply with its restrictions and prohibitions.
