Identify commercially-available and collaborative portal products and tools for considered use in deploying a portal offering at the www.princeton.edu entry point. Build a database to collect portal product features and information for "big-picture" assessment of available technologies. A short list of candidates is gleaned from this "what's out there" lineup.

Gather the needs and requirements of the University Community to establish a list of requirements and desirable features. This includes the identification of prospective channels, legacy application interface requirements, new application offerings and other interface and real-world issues.

Evaluate the short list of candidate technologies (from Task #1) and rate each product against the requirements and desirable features (from Task #2).

Deploy a framework for all University contributors to develop within. This includes the framework for deploying "Personal Channels."

Define a minimum set of channels for the Princeton Portal's Initial Public Offering (IPO).
 
6
Deploy Princeton Portal IPO. Provide Documentation and support procedures.
 
7
Build upon IPO by expanding the features and increasing the available channels.
