The Friends of Music at Princeton are pleased to announce a new project to be inaugurated during the course of the 2007-2008 academic year. Taplin Talks will provide regular opportunities for the community to hear talks by distinguished members of the Music Department faculty on subjects ranging from scholarly and compositional projects of the individual speakers, to topics directly related to programs presented by Princeton University Concerts.

The first in the series will feature professor Simon Morrison, whose research is focused on Russian and Soviet music, particularly ballet and opera. His topic will be “Prokofiev’s Original, Intended Romeo and Juliet,” and will recount his work with choreographer Mark Morris to restore the composer’s original conception of the ballet.
