New Paradigms, New Challenges

Today we are looking to create institutional network applications utilizing a multi-tier approach. This poses many new challenges to traditional approaches to authentication.

Most authentication semantics establish 2-party contexts.
Multi-tier applications often use more than one authentication scheme.
"Tunneled" trust not always sufficient.
