Discussion Leader: Woodrow Wilson Phd Candidate, Jeff Edelstein, who researches arts policy and is writing about the Barnes Foundation.
No RSVP Required. All Students are welcome!
Bring your Trays Downstairs to the Mathey PDR.

Mathey Private Dining Room

We will be lucky enough to hear from Woodrow Wilson PhD candidate Jeff Edelstein, who researches arts policy and is writing about the Barnes Foundation.
RSVP with a $10 refundable deposit at the Mathey College Office by Nov. 18th.
Space is limited; those who sign up are expected to attend the dinner discussion if at all possible.
The Barnes Foundation is one of the premier collections of Impressionist and Early Modernist art in the world, but one of the least-visited. It's only an hour away from campus, but it can be a headache to even get in the door. Non-refundable tickets are available by advanced reservation only. Mathey and Rocky have got you the tickets for this exclusive viewing of hundreds of paintings by Renoir, Cézanne, Monet, Manet, Modigliani, and others. What's more, this fall may be your last chance to see the original collection as it was intended to be seen, in the idiosyncratic display arrangements of Mr. Barnes himself. Barnes originally wanted the working class to have the best access to his collection and intentionally kept out academics. College students used to dress in overalls in order to get in undetected.  For those of you with a legal interest, the Barnes Foundation has been the focus landmark cases to break the will of its founder in order to show the art outside of its original installation, and also in order to move the foundation entirely, which will happen soon. This trip will be led by graduate students and RGSs from the Art and Archaeology and Architecture departments.
