McGraw Wants You:
ACE Fellow in the McGraw Center for Teaching & Learning
Want to improve your own academic performance while helping your fellow students improve theirs? Interested in honing skills for professions beyond Princeton, including investment banking, seminary studies, graduate school, and teaching? Curious about how your mind works to absorb, retrieve, and create knowledge? If so, then join the McGraw Center as one of our ACE Fellows.
The McGraw Center for Teaching & Learning is currently hiring fellows for its ACE study-skills program. ACE Fellows are trained to work with their peers, one-on-one, to develop core, transferable academic skills such as active and efficient reading, time management, and logical problem-solving. In addition to individual conferences, ACE Fellows occasionally speak publicly about McGraw's services and help to create and to improve study skills tip-sheets. Overall, ACE Fellows work on a team with McGraw's Interim Assistant Director and Senior Graduate Fellow to generate and implement ideas for the promotion and improvement of McGraw's undergraduate services and to promote a general culture of thinking about learning at Princeton.
We're looking for sophomores or juniors who can listen actively and diagnose student study-skills needs, teach new skills and encourage change, participate in the center's work and its outreach to undergraduates, work collaboratively, and represent McGraw's undergraduate services to the campus community.
ACE Fellows should be able to commit around 4-5 hours a week to the work and are paid from $10.50 an hour.
Applications will be handled via e-mail. Accordingly, to apply please send an e-mail to Dr. Roblin Meeks, Interim Assistant Director of the McGraw Center for Teaching & Learning, (rmeeks@princeton.edu) that includes the following:
- A downloaded and completed PDF application available here.
- A current resume.
- A short (1-2 page) essay in which you discuss how a particularly good — or particularly bad — teacher or tutor affected your learning.
