New Jersey State Tax Form Preparation
Even if you are a Non Resident Alien for federal income taxes, you are considered a New Jersey resident, unless you live in another state such as New York or Pennsylvania. If you live in New Jersey, you may need to complete a New Jersey tax return. Generally, you will not have to file a New Jersey return if you received a scholarship or fellowship and you did not receive any wage income or if your wage income was less than $10,000 (single) or $20,000 (married). New Jersey offers several different ways to submit your tax return, including electronically, over the telephone, and in paper. New Jersey’s tax website has all the information you need to file your tax return.
- If you wish to file your New Jersey State income tax forms online, go to the State’s website for online filing at www.njwebfile.com. Please make sure you read all the instructions given on the website. This will make your tax form preparation much smoother, as well as prevent errors.
- If you wish to file your New Jersey State income tax forms by telephone, the State also offers this option. You can find information regarding Telefile at www.state.nj.us/treasury/taxation/index.html?ot13.htm~mainFrame. Again, be sure to read all the instructions given on the website before and during the process.
- If you prefer to prepare your taxes the traditional way, using paper and the post office, you can find the forms here.
