Kira graduated from Princeton and the Opp Lab in Spring '06. Her research here was in how analogy can aid in user interface and human computer interaction. The idea being that for many people (especially older people) computers and technology in general are confusing and hard to use. To aid in making technology accessible, it can be designed to make use of analogical reasoning -- that is, you make new technology similar in certain key ways (in terms of interface) to technology that people are already familiar with to improve usability/training. The trick is understanding the principals of analogy so that the similarities built in the system will lead to transfer.
