Summer facilitators are summer staff members who actively engage youth in unique and exciting experiences and focused reflections in order to increase knowledge, develop skills, and clarify values.
If you love working with inner-city youth and love the outdoors, then consider a summer job at the Princeton-Blairstown Center. Our Blairstown, New Jersey campus is situated on 263 acres of land with trails, waterfalls and wildlife. It contains various adventure course activities designed to promote development of self-esteem, self-respect, respect for others, as well as decision-making and problem solving skills.
Summer Facilitator
Our summer facilitators engage in various roles and responsibilities depending on training and need, including:
• Responsibility for the well being of participants. Facilitators live and cook on site. They facilitate adventure activities, including but not limited to: games, initiative problems, rock climbing, rappelling, high ropes courses, environmental education activities, canoeing, hiking, and swimming. Activities also include co-facilitation of overnight backpacking and canoeing expeditions up to six days in length.
• Responsibility for implementing safe operating procedures in all water-related activities, maintaining the boating and canoeing equipment, and serving as the primary lifeguard on duty. Lifeguard certification is required in supervising all water-related activities.
At times, summer facilitators are required to serve in support roles which involve: distributing gear, setting up courses and activities, preparing meals, and restoring the dining hall.
First-aid Supervisor
One position available: The First-aid supervisor works directly with our nurse. EMT or WFR certification is required.
