Transportation
Stephanie Tatham ’04 briefly
summarized the report she presented at the November 11th
PEOC meeting. Stephanie introduced Sandra Brilheart,
Executive Director, and Adele Clark, Administrator Ride
Match Program, from the Greater Mercer Transportation
Management Authority to discuss transportation options for
the University.
Ride Pro and TransitCheck Programs,
carpooling and vanpooling to work were discussed. The
Greater Mercer TMA provides a free, up to date computerized
matching service for commuters who are registered and work
in Mercer County, and other counties as well. Commuters form
their own car pools. If a commuter is registered in one of
the Greater Mercer TMA programs, and has to leave work early
or late due to an emergency, they are guaranteed a free ride
home. Confidentiality, liability, incentive programs and
benefits were also discussed.
More information about the services
provided by the Greater Mercer TMA can be found on their web
site: http://www.gmtma.org/
The link to the site will be posted on the PEOC website.
Eco-Reps
Jon Baer reported ten candidates have
been identified for the Eco Rep positions on campus. Jon
stated the representatives will meet with College
Administrators and Masters to explain their job/positions.
The Eco-Reps will conduct waste audits
to determine how trash is put out, how often recycling is
contaminated with waste, identify areas that need recycling
bins or where bins are poorly marked, notify students to
turn off lights, computers, and heat prior to winter/spring
break. Ways to reduce energy and water consumption will also
be identified. Tom Nyquist agreed to have an energy
consumption discussion with the group.
Miscellaneous
- Lisa Ridolfi, Purchasing,
reported she met with Ricoh representatives regarding
their position with the 100% recycled paper. Samples
have been sent to Ricoh for testing. Lisa stated the
computer cluster areas are working well and have not
reported any problems with the 100% recycled paper. Lisa
reported approximately 73% of all departments on campus
are compliant with the University policy regarding the
use of 100% recycled paper.
- Resumes for the student intern
position are being reviewed by Janet Gruschow, Stu
Orefice, and Don Weston. The student will work on a
variety of issues, including energy, solid waster
reduction, and recycling.
- The next PEOC meeting will be
held on Wednesday, February 9th, 12 noon, Butler
College.
