Farmer's Market on Campus
Kathryn Anderson reported Greening Princeton received
approval from administration to have a Farmers’ Market on
campus. Farmers will be able to set up their produce on the
south lawn of the Frist Campus Center on a series of
Wednesdays throughout the fall. Cooking demonstrations will
be held. The main purpose to the project is to encourage
support of locally grown produce. Local farmers within a 30
mile radius will participate. Emmanuel Kreike suggested
extending the radius to 50 miles. Kathryn stated liability
insurance, guidelines, criteria and logistical issues will
be discussed with the farmers who are selected to
participate.
Recyclemania Competition
Jon Baer, Director of Building Services, gave an update on
the results of the Recyclemainia contest at Princeton which
was held from January 29th through April 8th. During the
10-week competition, schools reported how much they recycled
and threw out by weighing their waste haulers. Overall
Princeton University ranked 16 out of the 90 schools that
participated with an overall recycling rate of 29.34%.
Recyclemania posted the results weekly. Additional
information about the contest can be found at:
http://www.recyclemaniacs.org/index.htm
Waste contamination problems on campus
and how to encourage and make students aware of recycling
were also discussed.
Priorities Projects Lists
Tom Nyquist reported he met with Stu Orefice, Jon Baer,
Katherine Hackett, and Barclay Satterfield to review project
assignments for Shana Weber, Sustainability Manager.
Projects identified were marketing PEOC, recycling awareness
among the students, construction waste management, Board of
Public Utilities Water Audit, Dining Green Program,
Greenhouse Gas Reduction Course, and green purchasing. Shana
Weber, Sustainability Manager, will join Facilities at the
end of June.

Don Weston and Lisa Ridolfi reported there are still several
departments on campus not using the 100% recycled paper.
Toner Cartridge Recycling
Leila Shabender and Lisa Ridolfi reported they are working
on a toner cartridge recycling project with a company
affiliated with Office Max. The company will provide the
packaging for the toner cartridges. Leila stated it will be
helpful to have the eco reps and Shana Weber involved in
this project, which they hope to kick off in the fall.
