Peter Singer was born in Melbourne, Australia, in 1946 and educated at the University of Melbourne and the University of Oxford.  His books include Animal Liberation, Practical Ethics, The Expanding Circle, Marx, Hegel, How are We to Live?, Rethinking Life and Death, A Darwinian Left, Writings on an Ethical Life, One World and most recently, Pushing Time Away.  The was the founding president of the International Association of Bioethics.  He came to Princeton from Monash University in 1999 and his faculty position is with the University Center for Human Values.
