Community Policing

An organization-wide philosophy  which promotes community, government and public  safety entity PARTNERSHIPS incorporating proactive collaborative problem identification and PROBLEM SOLVING approaches that address issues of crime, fear of crime, social and physical disorder, and QUALITY OF LIFE.

Community Policing Initiatives

The Department of Public Safety is initiating several project teams as a direct result of our evolving community policing and problem-solving philosophy.  The department elected to initially address several long-standing quality of life problems in the community; pedestrian safety and bicycle theft.

Pedestrian Safety:  The committee represents a wide range of interest and resources from the Princeton community.  Our purpose is to identify high risk pedestrian areas and develop reasonable solutions to enhance safety.  We will submit our recommendations to the Public Safety Advisory Committee, the Director of Public Safety, the Vice President for Facilities and the Vice President for Campus Life.

Minutes and notes from Pedestrian Safety Committee.
