Home Science Outreach Lekiji School Mpala School School Video Outreach Report

In July of 2005, two Princeton students, Ishani Sud and Juliane Davis, traveled to the Mpala Research Center to help the local communities learn science based solutions to improve their lives.   One of their main avenues for transferring their knowledge was through after school activities  at two of the local schools.

The first school was a primary school for the children of the employees of the Research Centre.  They worked  with the kids two days a week on a program of  conservation, solar energy, and renewable vs. non-renewable energy sources.

The second school was the Lekiji School, a public primary and secondary school for the children of the local community.   The activities here were similar with the addition of having the older students build solar ovens, which they then took home after the course.
