Tony Oursler's works in the media of video, sculpture, installation, performance, and painting bear the interpretative traces to art historians, recalling the literary connections of his family and Catholic background. He also explores the influence of television, particularly MTV, in whose broadcasts special effects play a considerable role - and to which special effects artists of his generation have contributed.
