About Writing in
the Disciplines
Writing is integral to intellectual pursuits of every
kind, whether in the humanities, the social or natural sciences, mathematics,
or engineering.
Writing in the Disciplines, an initiative of the Princeton
Writing Program, seeks to enhance the role of writing in departmental
courses throughout the University. We offer
- Consultations with faculty
on integrating writing into courses, designing and sequencing effective
assignments, helping AIs learn to teach with writing, preparing concentrators
for the JP and Senior Thesis, equipping graduate students to write well
in the field, and re-thinking the writing curriculum of departments.
- Workshops for faculty and
AIs on teaching
with writing, providing students with useful feedback, and grading fairly
and consistently.
- Discipline- and course-specific workshops
for students writers,
organized and led in conjunction with departmental faculty, on the challenges
of writing in a particular field.
