FALL 2008: Study Abroad at Central European University, Budapest, Hungary
Academic Program

Students enroll in a set of courses worth 16 credits (usually four courses) from the offerings of CEU. Woodrow Wilson students also take the policy task force. The courses at CEU are graduate-level courses, but would be appropriate for Princeton students. Students may select courses in their home department of International Relations and European Studies as well as in other departments at CEU, provided the courses are approved and are taught for a full semester. A list of courses offered by specific departments are available on the CEU Web site.

Most regular CEU students are pursuing one-year Master’s Degrees. The degree program typically runs on an academic calendar of ten months, including a three-week pre-session, two 12-week semesters, and a two-month spring session during which the student prepares a Master’s thesis or research project.

Princeton students will arrive at the beginning of the academic year and will attend the pre-session, which will help them settle into life in Budapest. During the pre-session, Princeton students will take a course, “Central Europe in the Modern Period,” which is designed to provide background on the region.

All instruction and interactions at CEU are conducted in English. To view the course offerings and syllabi, you may consult the following web sites:
